There is more than just Love and Commitment to keep one relationship alive. You need Compassion.
And let’s learn what compassion’s really like from one person i know whose His loves is at no boundaries and His compassion changes lives. His name is Jesus Christ. I could say that Compassion is one thing that comes only if you are truly loved. How many of us always search for someone who cares, who would sacrifice a thing for us? Well maybe not even a thing, we even ask for our spouse to sacrifice a little time for us often, right? But how often then we also got disappointed for it?
During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.” (Mark 8 : 1 – 3)
This scripture is probably familiar to most of us, it’s about Jesus feed the 4.000 .We used to tell this scripture to children, but all i see in this scripture is what Jesus’s compassion can do! Jesus always there with you, He is there when the large crowd gathered and even when we are alone. He is everywhere as He said that He will be at our right. The thing that caused us to not feel His presence is our decision : our decision that not letting go of our sins – our decision to not believe Him. That is our biggest problem in feeling His presence. You know what, He even now is at your side, that’s why you always find favors – it’s not coincidences, but how it is specially designed!
You see how Jesus have compassion for all the people, how He cared for them, it even bothered Him if all the people left hungry and even think for them further – how they will probably collapse along the way. How Jesus know your distance, your capability, He will never leave you “hungry”. Whatever your problems today, believe that He knows your distance, He knows your capability that you probably will collapse along your way, it will bothered Him! Jesus’s compassion and love will never leave you helpless. He never delays His rescue, believe that when He says everything will be beautiful in His time, it’s not that He is delaying, it is Him preparing everything to be perfect.
His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?” (Mark 8 : 4)
When i was facing my Severe Eczema, there was moment where i focus on my wounds and think How could these be healed? But now i realize, focusing on what’s seen is the biggest thing that block our Miracles. When we switch our eyes from Jesus to our problems, we are discouraged – because we see the bigger problems we are facing and forget to see our bigger God. Just like His disciples who were discouraged to see the 4.000 people to feed – they start to think that it’s impossible. But they forget who are they with, they are with God whose nothing’s impossible for Him to do.
“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied. (Mark 8 : 5)
How many leaders you see or even us, who if are underestimated the power will response it well? Aren’t leaders we often see will get angry when they are questioned their power and capability? Different with Jesus, He is God of all universe – He created this world and us, If you are God and questioned, aren’t you have the right to be angry and to curse? But Jesus was not even angry, His compassion and love beats everything. He simply asks what we have. What do you have today? Times left to get back to Him? a little faith? Hands to lift up and shout? Mouth to call His name? No matter how small or how few you have today, You’ll see with His compassion, He will change your “few” to be your best!
He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. (Mark 8 : 6 – 7)
Do you know how hard it is to wake up everyday with oozing, itch, and wounds all over your body? How hard it is to know that it is a new day with the same wounds? That’s why i know how hard it is for you in facing whatever your problem is too. But i learned to “sit down on the ground” as Jesus told the crowd. I learned to surrender, to put every pressures – fear – tears – faith and hope that’s left down to His feet. When we “sit down”, put down every of our “impossibilities” and rise to trust Him again, to hope again – He will take our “seven loaves and our few fish” and change our lives. He will take whatever we have left, you don’t have to pump your faith to be big enough, just a little faith of yours – just a mustard seed of faith, just a decision to wake up everyday and hope again, no matter how many times you fall to believe, but how many times you rise again to believe again. Your miracles will be there.
I learned to give thanks in every little things i have. In every bad things happened. Just like Jesus, He gave thanks for even just 7 loaves and a few small fish. When you start giving thanks for everything you are facing even it’s the worst thing, He will broke every impossibilities and make a miracle just for you.
The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. (Mark 8 : 7 – 8)
You must have known that we human have a different size of portion of meals. I only need a small plate of rice to get me full, but for my husband, He needs 1.5 – 2 plates of rice to get him full. But here we can see how great is our God. Jesus made 4.000 people that have different portions of meal, 4.000 different stomach ate and even SATISFIED ! Not too full but also not one of them still hungry.
What does this mean? it means that there is no sickness, no financial problem, no broken marriage, NOTHING that is too small or even too big for Him to handle. We just need to sit down on the ground and give thanks. You’ll see that Jesus will turn your seven loaves and a few small fish into a miracle that satisfying and even you’ll see that there will be more than just an answer to your problems. You’ll pick up double portion that’s left over for you. It is His peace and grace that will overflow every seconds of your life. I know because i have received His grace and i am hoping to live under His grace forever.
About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, He got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha. (Mark 8 : 9 – 10)
Jesus won’t leave us, and when we are dwelling and struggling with our problems, He even be more present. Don’t think that we are dirty enough to get close to Him, Jesus loves you and He won’t leave until everything is done, until we get back to His side – until He rescues us from the dark days.
The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven. He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side. (Mark 8 : 11 – 13)
Finally, if your heart are trembling after you read this scripture, know that the Holy Spirit is with you and He loves you, He will show the way to you to get back to the source, to Jesus. In the name of Jesus, you’ll feel His compassion, His tenderness, His kindness for He is your Father. But some of you that is still questioning His love – know that Jesus has died for you, He still loves you but He can’t stay with you for your heart is rejecting Him. He will crossed to the other side waiting for you to welcome Him back.
My God, Jesus Christ is this kind of God, a good shepherd who runs for His lamb so that they won’t fall into the darkness. That’s why i am thankful for He is our God. He is faithful, He never leaves when i am good or even when i am imperfect. He always there. See me as your warning and also your sign that there is still hope in the name of Jesus. For if i am rescued, then you must be too.
